Salesforce.com’s Service Cloud Now Tweets

service cloud logoIf you haven’t heard of Service Cloud yet I’m sure you’ll interested. Service Cloud is a Salesforce.com product which allows company to capture information about their company in the cloud (internet). Recently Salesforce added the ability to monitor Twitter activity using Service Cloud. Basically, conversation that takes place between people on social networks can be tracked using this tool. If a company were to release a new product they could monitor in real-time the conversation about that product that’s taking place on social networks. In essence, it turns the internet into one huge real-time focus group.

Google Voice Targets Unified Communication Consumer Segment

Google VoiceWith the announcement of Google Voice, Google has created a consumer targeted unified communication (UC) system. UC allows an individual to send or receive a message on one medium and review it on another. For example, UC allows you to read voice messages in an email inbox. UC has been getting a lot of attention from business over the past few years but the consumer segment seems to have been largely ignored. Google Voice will include features such as voicemail transcriptions and free long distance calling within the US for American users. With no special hardware to buy this will be an attractive option for customers who have avoided VOIP products in the past.

Because Twitter is able to aggregate news so quickly, I believe that in the near future reporters not using the tool may find themselves left behind.
